Although I'm not a fan of the term, "Woke Science," I agree with the concept of conducting research that drives change. What often happens is that our pressure to "publish or perish" often creates research that really doesn't have a point beyond the publication. I read a paper that "studied" the Barney character in "How I Met Your Mother," and it frustrated me that the paper didn't tie the research to broader themes or presented something "new."

As for our stuff being more comprehensible, I'm for that. However, many faculty are so busy juggling their many hats in academe that they can't devote additional time to create vlogs. My guess is many researchers have a hard time eliminating jargon from their writing. However, the "big" research schools will have grad assistants that could do this.
